" I would rank the Dow house with Falling Water for unique houses to see!!"

" I toured the Dow Home and Studio on December 30, 2005. The home, studio and furnishings are magnificent and the tour guide's knowledge of the home, Dow family, their history and related topics was excellent. The engagement and accessibility of the staff is also praise worthy. I felt right at home.
A tour of the Dow, Studio and grounds is highly recommended by me and tied in with activities in the surrounding area is quite a bargain even with a long drive. Thank you."

"This was not a tour as one would expect. This was an extremely personalized, delightful journey through the home and life of the late Alden B. Dow."

"A father brought his two sons (8 & 11) on a Saturday tour. They asked, 'Why do we have to go to an old house? It will be boring.' 'Because,' the father said, 'it's something you'll never forget.'

"My family and I toured the Alden Dow Home and Studio. This was one of the best vacation experiences we have ever had. We got to experience the ambiance Alden Dow wished to create first hand. What a rare experience. We are happy to be among the relatively few Americans to have visited one of our country's premiere homes."

Paula Liveris, tourist
"I wanted to thank you for taking time out of your schedule to provide the students and myself with the fantastic tour of the Dow House and Archives. I try very hard to provide students with meaningful site visits and our time with you truly afforded them a valuable learning experience and the chance to see first-hand one of Michigan's most important architectural treasures."

"I was so excited about coming here, I couldn't sleep last night."

"Thank you for all your help with our unit on architecture and the tour of the Alden B. Dow Home/Studio. A parent contacted me yesterday to say her son (a reluctant student at many times) still was talking about it. Another architect perhaps?"

"Thank you so much for taking the time to show us the Alden B. Dow Studio. I learned so much about the house and studio. I think it's cool how Alden B. Dow used so many shapes and colors to decorate. Some of my favorite things we did were going into the submarine room, going out on the blocks in the water, and designing a house for a family. You told us so much information in a way I could understand it."

"I learned a lot about Dow, especially what he liked. He is a lot like my little brother on account of he likes to play and has fun and creative ideas. I like Alden Dow better than Herbert Dow, his dad. You explained everything so nicely and easily! It felt like Dow was roaming around. My favorite part of the house was the office because it had his presence in it (pretty, too). The house was spectacular, fantastic, interesting, cool, awesome, great, exciting, good, indescribable, nicenicenicenice, and everything else in my limited vocabulary. Dow's use of lines, colors, textures, glass, plastic, and nature's charm gave the house a unique personality. The ceilings and rooms were made to fit the items that were put in the room, like the toy room. It was painted red and green other kiddie colors. The ceiling was low. You knew a lot about it and made it fun. THANKS A LOT AND THANKS AGAIN!!!!"

"I really liked the Alden B. Dow Studio. It had some really cool hidden passages and tunnels. My favorite part was being an architect. The home was really neat. It was very geometric and mathematical. I liked the submarine room, too. It was like it was built into water."
Niral Patel, 4th grader,

"Thank you for taking the time to show us around the Alden B. Dow Home & Studio. It was cool. I loved it. I didn't know that the Alden B. Dow Studio existed until now. I really liked when we got to go outside on the blocks and look at all the nature. The submarine room was awesome. It was like a foot under water. The turtles were neat because I like animals. It's terrific how Alden had a pond around his house."
