Alden B. Dow Archives has approximately 22,000 drawings, over 600 different
project files, 8 feet of published articles, 300 motion picture films,
photographs, slides, oral histories, clothing, model trains, and mechanical
toys.

Rules to Remember
We ask researchers to consider the materials in the Alden B. Dow
Archives permanent resources for scholarship. Materials should be used in
such a manner as to insure their careful preservation.
Researchers are required to check coats, hats, brief cases, envelopes,
books, and all other personal property. Handbags and shoulder bags not
checked are subject to inspection, along with work materials, upon leaving.
- A photo ID is required for registration.
- Pencils only are permitted in the Archives.
- Manuscripts must not be removed from folders for any reason.
- Smoking and eating are not permitted in the Archives.
- Permission to examine manuscripts is not an authorization to publish
them.
Research Charges
Researchers are encouraged to come to the Alden B. Dow Archives in person to
do their work, but if they must rely solely on telephone, FAX, mail, or e-mail
services to conduct their work, a research fee will be charged after 30
minutes of staff time at the rate of $25.00 an hour.

Photo Copies
Copyright restrictions apply to all materials. The researcher must sign a
copyright statement specifying that photocopies or reproductions are not to
be "used for any other purposes other than private study, scholarship or
research." Written permission from the Alden B. Dow Archives and appropriate
credits are required for any materials to be published.

Photocopies: $.20 per page
Photographs: Please inquire about specific costs.
Oversize Photocopies:
$2.25 for each 18 x 24" (3 sq. ft.) - minimum cost
$3.00 for each 24 x 36" (6 sq. ft.)
$3.75 for each 30 x 42" (9 sq. ft.)
These are approximate costs. Additional shipping charged if materials are
mailed.
