Michigan Notable Books. Nancy R. Robertson, State
Librarian writes, "...The program honors and promotes quality
publications about the State of Michigan or the Great Lakes,
written by a Michigan author, or set in Michigan." Over
300 titles were discussed and only 20 were chosen to best
represent "our state's diverse, ethnic, historical, literary,
and cultural experience."

B. Dow Home and Studio, writer Diane Maddex and designer Robert
Wiser.
Even More Great News!!!
Fall 2007 - located in Design Watch of
Beautiful Homes magazine, "Visiting the Alden B. Dow Home
and Studio in Midland, Michigan...is like dropping by when Dow
(1904-1983) and his wife Vada, were still there. The book
(Alden B. Dow: Midwestern Modern) is the
next best thing to visiting the home and what Dow called the
floating submarine conference room, which puts you at eye level
with the surface of the lagoon."
Winter 2007-8 - Alden B. Dow: Midwestern Modern
is featured in Shelf Life of MODERNISM Magazine,
Sandy McLendon writes, "Dow's approach to Organic Architecture
was rather different from Wright's, more practical and
client-oriented. His Unit Blocks, recycled from cinder
ash, were one of the first 'green' building products.
