Even More Great News!!!

Fall 2007 - located in Design Watch of Beautiful Homes magazine, "Visiting the Alden B. Dow Home and Studio in Midland, Michigan...is like dropping by when Dow (1904-1983) and his wife Vada, were still there.  The book (Alden B. Dow:  Midwestern Modern) is the next best thing to visiting the home and what Dow called the floating submarine conference room, which puts you at eye level with the surface of the lagoon."

Winter 2007-8 - Alden B. Dow:  Midwestern Modern is featured in Shelf Life of MODERNISM Magazine, Sandy McLendon writes, "Dow's approach to Organic Architecture was rather different from Wright's, more practical and client-oriented.  His Unit Blocks, recycled from cinder ash, were one of the first 'green' building products.

February 2008 - Reviewed by Arnold Berke of Architectural Record, Alden B. Dow:  Midwestern Modern is described as "Spaciously laid out and cheerfully colored, like so many of Dow's buildings, the volume joins an expanding clan of books on regional architects."

April 2008 - Lake Magazine - The Bottom Line given by Megan Waitkoff states, "Dow provides for a fascinating character study, but the striking photography of his works wins out."

Spring 2008 - Susan H. Stafford gives credit to Alden B. Dow:  Midwestern Modern and author Diane Maddex, in Reading Wright of The Quarterly Newsletter of The Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy, "...Maddex offers a rich and intimate portrait of Alden B. Dow that serves as a fine introduction for readers who are unfamiliar with his work and as an invaluable resource for anyone who is already an admirer or a serious student of modern architecture."
