Public tours at the Alden B. Dow Home & Studio offer a guided journey through this striking example of Mid-Century Modern architecture. Explore this National Historic Landmark’s vibrant, imaginative spaces and innovative design while learning about Midland’s history, organic architecture, and the life and legacy of Mr. and Mrs. Dow.

Reservations required.

  • Adults: $20
  • Seniors: $18 (Ages 60+)
  • Students: $8 (Must be 8+, through the traditional college age of 23)

Daily public tours are available February-December, Tuesday-Saturday.

No indoor photography allowed.

Touring Groups Welcome!

Whether you’re organizing an outing for your club, company, organization, or school, a group tour offers an inspiring experience of this iconic Mid-Century Modern National Historic Landmark. Explore its imaginative spaces with a dedicated docent, enjoy a schedule tailored to your group, and leave with a deeper appreciation for design, architecture, and creativity.

Duration

  • The length of the tour is approximately 1.5-2 hours, including time for restrooms and the gift shop.

Pricing

Group tours are available Tuesday-Saturday, February-December, by appointment only.

Group Tour Rates:

  • Group Rate I – $17.00 per person for 15 or more guests, finishing during business hours
  • Group Rate II – $20.00 per person for 15 or more guests, finishing after business hours
  • Group Rate III – $350.00 flat rate for groups under 15, finishing during business hours
  • Group Rate IV – $400.00 flat rate for groups under 15, finishing after business hours

Bus Tours

About

If you are organizing an outing for your club, company, organization, or church, bus tours offer an inspiring experience of this iconic Mid-Century Modern National Historic Landmark. We can accommodate a full coach bus in one tour. Your group experiences the same imaginative spaces with a dedicated docent in three or four smaller groups to personalize your experience. You will leave with a deeper appreciation for design, architecture, and creativity and much to discuss on the ride home.

  • Buses must remain outside the gates until tour guides come out to assist with unloading.
  • Pickup must also occur outside the gates. Buses are not permitted past the gate.
  • One tour director is comped per group.

  • The length of the tour is approximately 1.5-2 hours, including time for restrooms and the gift shop.

Pricing

Private tours are available by appointment only. A 30-day notice is required for cancellation. Please confirm your guest count two weeks prior to your tour.

  • $350: During business hours and for groups of less than 15
  • $400: After business hours and for groups of less than 15
  • In groups of over 15 people, pricing becomes $17/person rather than a flat rate.

Tours are available February-December. Flexible tour times are available.

Policies & Procedures
  • The length of tour is approximately 1.5 hours.
  • Parking: Tour parking is behind the Post Street School.
  • The individual who made the reservation is asked to review the Alden B. Dow Home & Studio Policies and Procedures with all the guests in their party.
  • We provide a closet for coats, and a secure drawer for purses, backpacks and other personal belongings that are not allowed to travel through the Home and Studio. Please utilize pockets to carry personal items and cash or credit cards for gift shop purchases.
  • No food, drinks, or gum allowed.
  • We ask that guests arrive no more than 15 minutes before the start time of their tour.
  • Children must be 8 years old to attend the tour. No exceptions.
  • Student Age pricing is 8 years to traditional college age of 23 years old.
  • Guests may take their phones on tour but there are NO PHOTOS, videos, or recording of any kind on the interior of the building or objects in the building. This includes the screened-in porch. We ask guests to please silence their phones and keep them in their pockets while inside the building. Photos are allowed outside the building during the tour and in front of the building before and after the tour.
  • As a National Historic Landmark, the Alden B. Dow Home and Studio is not required to follow ADA guidelines. It is not handicapped accessible.

  • Certified Service Animals are welcome. Pets are not allowed.
  • 24-hour cancellation notice required for full refund or rebooking.
  • Public Restrooms are available on site.
