Student Summer Camps
Enroll your children or grandchildren into a summer day camp today! At the Alden B. Dow Home & Studio, campers explore, discover, and create, through interactive, hands-on activities, fostering creativity and opening opportunities for new friendships alike. Each session runs Monday-Thursday of their designated week, concluding with an open house where campers can share their experiences with family and friends. The cost is $190 per camp, and there are scholarships available for children’s camps.
*Camp I is not a prerequisite for Camp II.
Architecture Camp I & II for 4th-6th Grade
Campers focus on expanding their understanding of architecture through concepts, visual experience, and activities. They will create their own miniature structure, explore the Home & Studio top to bottom, plus visit an additional local structure to deepen their architectural knowledge and to gain further insight into Midland’s unique Mid-Century heritage. Weather permitting, campers have the opportunity to canoe the pond.

Design Camp I & II for 7th-9th Grade
Campers delve into the principles of design, such as color, texture, and shape through a variety of engaging, hands-on design activities, such as model rooms and mini structures. Exploration of the Home & Studio and another local Mid-Century Modern structure broadens their understanding of design and illustrates its impact on spacial environments. Weather permitting, campers have the opportunity to canoe the pond.

Adult Camps
Fostering creativity isn’t just for kids! Our adult camps offer an immersive experience where participants can explore the Home & Studio, engage in personal creative exploration, and connect with fellow campers. Each camp includes a guided tour of the Home & Studio and an additional Mid-Century Modern Structure, along with morning coffee, a provided lunch, and a closing wine and cheese gathering on the screened-in porch.
Spring Adult Research Camp
Dive into focused research using a curated selection of topics, courtesy of the Alden B. Dow Archives. This camp is ideal for those who enjoy design, history, architecture, and want devoted time for the deep exploration of Mr. Dow’s work.

- Immerse yourself in this unique space during personal reflection time, for drawing, writing, and creative pursuits
- Discover more about Alden B. Dow through his life philosophy by viewing his 16mm films in the Game Room theater and other activities
- Engage and share ideas with fellow campers through morning coffee, provided lunch, and conclude the camp with wine and cheese on the screened-in porch
Summer Adult Design & Exploration Camp
For those who seek more adventure, this camp integrates Mr. Dow’s creative philosophy into interactive design projects. Participants will also explore the Home & Studio grounds and canoe its surrounding pond to gain a fresh perspective of the structure.

- View rarely seen 16mm films created by Alden B. Dow in the Game Room theater
- Conduct research on a curated topic from the Alden B. Dow Archives
- Engage with hands-on design projects that integrate Mr. Dow’s creative and life philosophy
- Canoe the pond surrounding the Home & Studio to gain a new perspective of the structure
- Engage and share ideas with fellow campers through morning coffee, provided lunch, and conclude the camp with wine and cheese on the screened-in porch
