The Alden B. Dow Home and Studio serves as a unique resource for a variety of educational institutions. A working partnership with the Bay-Arenac Career Center has enabled students to come into the Home and Studio to measure specific areas in great detail. They also have the opportunity to study original drawings and floor plans of the Home and Studio by Mr. Dow in the archives. Upon completing their study of the spaces, students return to their classroom and feed the information they have gathered into a computer, which then creates a three dimensional scale model of the spaces, using a three dimensional printer to capture every nuance of the rooms, including color and furniture. This partnership provides a unique opportunity for students to experience hands-on training in an architecturally complex National Historic Landmark.
